Antique Lakai Ilgich Embroidery - 24.5 x 25"
Antique Lakai Ilgich Embroidery - 24.5 x 25"
Stunner.
Antique Lakai — a nomadic Uzbek group — ilgich embroidery, likely a dowry piece.
Ilgich embroideries are squares, sometimes called “mirror covers,” but they were used as different decorative items in the new couple’s home.
Embroidered with good luck symbols and symbols of family prosperity like the ram’s horns, these are wonderful protective pieces.
Handspun handwoven warp-faced red wool base — slim panels stitched together — with hands-on silk and soft wool embroidery. Natural dyes.
Dating to over 100 years beautiful.
This piece would be fantastic mounted/framed as the piece of art it is, or made into a unique pillow. The rich minty green and deep tomato red create just the most wonderful color pop.
Piece measures approximately 24.5” x 25”.
