This is a unique one.

I like to collect fabrics and textiles I like, but then sometimes I don’t know what to do with them. I honestly have no recollection of where or when this piece of Sengalese printed fabric came into my life.

I used to work in Afghanistan and one thing I loved to do was to bring random fabrics I had and give them to the ladies I work with and have them embroider and bead them up - they bedazzled them, if you will.

This kente-style print is a lightweight cotton manufactured by Costex (Compagnie Sénégalaise de Textile) in Dakar. The embroidery is cotton and the seed beads are glass. I just love the texture the embroridery and beading give this super vibrant fabric.

It would be great as pillows for a kid’s room (why do kids always get the best colors?) or couch pillows.
