I’ve always been intrigued by how disasters and misery— aka, the news— sells jewelry.
And it makes me think about the status symbols that are reading the news and having expensive, recognizable jewelry. And about the things that give us joy, or are given to create joy, show and foster love, beg forgiveness. Symbols and carriers of all those things. And about beauty. The signs and signifiers of that.
I also need to have my hands and eyes busy. Even—or especially—as I read the news.
