Antique India Banjara Gala Embroidery - 10.5 x 9.5"

$47.00

I love these vibrant and alive antique Banjara gala. These are traditional costume pieces that hang down the back of the head and cover the neck.

From the Banjara people in northern Gujarat, India.

Hand-embroidered in several different stitch techniques, with five tassels with metal tops. Cowry shells decorate.

Cotton stitching on handwoven, handpsun cotton khadi. Indigo and madder natural dyes.

Piece measures approximately 10.5" long x 9.5" wide, plus tassels.
Tassels measure approximately 3.5" - 4" long.

These textiles are great as is framed/mounted, or made into mini pillows. Or anything else your imagination can think up!

Textile dates to approximately 90-100 years ago.
