Antique Obruk Tulu Carpet / 3'3"x5'3" / 101x161cm

Antique Obruk Tulu Carpet / 3'3"x5'3" / 101x161cm

Antique, collectible tulu from Konya’s Obruk village, on a high plateau on the banks of a small volcanic lake in Central Anatolia. Obruk, which means just such a small volcanic lake in Turkish, is one of several small lakes nearby. A historically important town, there are ruins of a Seljuk-era carvansaray on the banks of the lake.

These tulu carpets made great use of the highest quality wools that were forged in the ideal climate and conditions in these high plateaus. Well-known for their finely-spun wools, these tulus are collectible.

This piece could be used as-is in a low-traffic area, or mounted and hung like the piece of art that it is.

We offer professional, hand-stitched mounting services. Please email for details.
