Antique Afshar Carpet / 3'4"x5'2" / 102x158cm

1,350.00

Striking early 20th century small Afshar carpet.

The Turkic Afshar group was semi-nomadic, with roots in Central Asia and settlements in current-day Azerbaijan and Eastern Turkey and bordering areas. Non-commercial carpets like this are especially beautiful expressions, as they were made by the people who used them, and not for the mysterious whims of a far-away market. Authentic, artistic.

This gorgeous small Afshar has a free-wheeling field of mini botehs, or paisley, shapes against a dark blue ground. Several borders have detailed geometric designs.
