EMERALD LEOPARDS is based on the hand-drawn motifs on chireh - traditional Afghan hunting camo cloths. That image - of a snake wrapping around a leopard - is meant to scare the partridge prey into shocked stillness, allowing the hunter to shoot them.

The two animals motif in turn is related to similar motifs of leopards and lions with snakes wrapping around the big cats. These icons were symbols of ancient Greek/Persian healing cults. The snake was a symbol of wisdom before the Garden of Eden got to it. The same snake wrapping motif is still seen today in the symbol of medical professionals, the sword of Asclepius.
